Crispy Spicy Fried Cauliflower
Fresh out of the fryer and slightly cooled, flavorful, aromatic and delicious. This is how these fried cauliflower bites can be described.
These fritters hide under their golden crust a feast of flavors. The batter contains parsley, coriander, cumin and curry, all spices, olive oil, and onions.. together they form a true symphony of flavors that will cause your taste buds to dance.
It’s homey, quick dish which I did not make it up, but my grandma did, so it’s a hand me down recipe from a trusted source.
This version of this crispy spicy fried cauliflower came about along time ago, when people of the levant tried to use the available ingredients they have to make the best dishes, that are still beloved till now.
Many years back grandmas used to make this delicious recipe in winter, since it’s rich in health benefits and budget-friendly.
It’s easy to prepare as an appetizer, side dish or even as a main course. So tasty and light.
Try making these, at first you will skeptically try one, pleasantly surprised yet still curious comes another, then another and before you know it the plate will be empty 🙂
Here in this post I want to share with you two ways of making this delicious recipe..
Ingredients:
-1 head cauliflower
-150 g. Flour
-2 eggs
-3 Tbsp Olive oil
-1 glass water
-1 finely chopped onion
-Salt and pepper
-100 g chopped coriander
-Cumin & Curry powder (after taste)
-30 g finely chopped parsley for garnish
Directions:
1. Rinse cauliflower head under cold water to remove dirt. Cut the cauliflower florets from the center, leaving short stalks.
2. Heat the oil in a frying pan, and saute the onions until soft.
3. Season it with salt and pepper.
4. Add the coriander, and sauté a little.
5. Place the cauliflower florets in boiling water.
6. Cook until you can insert a fork in them. After about 5-8 minutes, remove half of the cauliflower florets of the water, they shouldn’t be so tender.
7. Leave the other half in the boiling water to be cooked and soft.
8. Place the flour and the eggs in a bowl, add the water and mix them together.
*Pour the water gradually until it becomes smooth, but still firm mixture.
9. Add the cooked coriander, and season it with cumin & curry powder, and mix all together.
10. Dip the cauliflower florets from all sides in the mixture.
11. Crush the other cooked cauliflower florets very hard.
12. Add them to the mixture, and mix them all together very well.
13. Heat oil in deep skillet, and when it’s hot enough, fry the cauliflower florets until they become golden yellow.
14. Place the kitchen paper in a plate, then get them out of the oil in turn, and let them drain on the kitchen paper.
15. Use Tbsp to take from the mixture a little and fry.
To enjoy the best of this tasty dish, don’t forget to add a squeeze of lemon and a little of tahini. 🙂
Tips from Kumin-
As with all fried food, you don’t want the oil to be too hot because that will cook the outside of the fritter too quickly and the centers will still be undercooked. Keep the oil on medium high heat and once you flip the fritters lower the heat a little to give them a chance to cook all the way through.

Eure Lana ❤

This is so cool! A new dish for me. We, Indians, make a similar thing to this. Its called Gobi Manchuri. Tbh, I don’t know what the process of cooking it is but it seems very similar!
Also, Kumin, I think you deserve this award so. I nominated you on the Versatile blogger award! Here’s the link!
